It was always a struggle for me to find a workout routine and lose weight. I have joined a few gyms and things would go great for a few weeks and then fizzle out. I would tend to arrive at the gym and do the same routines over and over again. I lacked the push to keep myself going and would lose motivation! There have also been many diets that I have tried that worked great, but I would always fall back to my old habits.
In December of 2015, my wife told me there was an indoor cycling studio opening up in Maple Grove. She asked if I would like to go and try it out with her. I was actually pretty excited to go and try it as I used to cycle a lot when I was a kid. Then on January 9th we showed up for our first class and I absolutely loved it. Was it hard? Yes, it was very hard. When we would stand up to ride I would only make it about 30 seconds into the song and I would have to sit. The songs are one of my favorite parts about class. Each instructor has a unique play list and they crank the tunes and guide your ride! But the best part for me has been having an instructor. I have never done any instructed workout programs before and it is great for me. Having someone to motivate and push me to go further gives me that much more of a workout. You are always encouraged to make it your own ride. Each class stays challenging because you can always add more resistance and push yourself a little bit more and more.
Joining Surge Cycling has been life changing for me. It has been 5 months and 40 plus rides and I am down 20 pounds. I also just went to the doctor and my cholesterol numbers have improved significantly. I have not been on any special diet, but I have been making better choices with my meals. Going to class motivates me to make these better choices!
I look forward to every time I go to class and just feel better all-around every day!
